On February 25-26, the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CSWMD) hosted the annual Winter Workshop for the Program for Emerging Leaders (PEL). This year, the workshop focused on countering biological threats and involved participants from the CWMD Graduate Fellowship Program and UPMC’s Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative (ELBI). On Day 1, participants heard panel discussions on the past, current and future biological threats. On Day 2, participants participated in a table-top exercise (TTX) entitled “Viral Storm” and led by UPMC’s Center for Health Security.
